I took the amtrack for about $50.

Hi….I would start checking the sites now (orbitz, travelocity and I also like hotwire). Once you find a fare you are interested in go to the airlines website and see if it is any cheaper. It usually is. I don’t know if AirTran has a big presence at Metro airport but I would check them out. I fly them every year from Minneapolis to Myrtle Beach. I think they are great and affordable. They also always have sales. I know they fly to Biloxi but I am not sure about Jackson. I would check the sites often and I have read more than once that you have the best chance of finding good fares at 1 and 2 in the morning on Tues/Wed/Thurs.
Sounds crazy and I am not sure if that is still the case.

Try FareChase, they search dozens of websites for you, so you dont have to!!!

Hmmmmm…one of Northwest’s hub cities is Detroit…you might try them…or fly from Memphis…they would have cheap flights…you could possibly also fly from Gulfport, MS….I think Jackson (in itself) will cost a little more! Anyway, I’d say check with all the airlines…AirTran is pretty good, but I’m not sure they fly from Jackson…I always fly out of Gulfport and get my tickets online! I’m in Hattiesburg
