She isnt military and doesnt qualify for a military discount through the airlines. Just becuase your a dependent doesn’t mean you get a military discount that, in my opinoin is for active, retired, and veterans.

no. no business is under any obligation whatsoever to provide discounts for military personnel or their dependants. Her only option is too seek out the relief agency on base and see if they will give her a no interest loan. But again, they are not required to..it is not an emergency in the eyes of the military, as he obviously wasn’t wounded seriously enough if he is acting as escort to a fallen comrade.

Besides, chances are.. he will not have any free time at all, and does she REALLY want to intrude on the other family’s grief? Ask her this: if it were her spouse that was KIA, and the person who escorted him back’s wife showed up with kids in tow, and wanted to spend time with him, when the escort should be providing support and infromation to your friend, would she appreciate that?

WRT to AMC /Space A Flights: traveling within CONUS, the only way dependants may fly is on orders or with their sponsor. she would not be able to fly alone in her situation.

uh the guy who says you cant get a discount is WRONG!i am a spouse and got a little discount..when she gets her ticket or calls to let them know she is a spouse.she will have to show id at the airport..and do some stuff on the phone with them..good luck to her..and she wont be intruding on the other family! gezzz ppl.I used Americn Airlines a few months ago and got a discount..if for some reason they are being as****** about it the VFW will be more than glad to help..there is one in almost every town.

If she has a spouse military id card she should check out affees and see if she can find a flight through their travel service. She should also contact the American Red Cross.

  7. Judge Dredd Says:

If she lives near an Air Force base she may be able to get a MAC flight. They are space available seats on military aircraft and cost about $10. She would be eligible as well as her dependants. The down side is they are not very comfortable and are subject to change due to mission requirements. Her best bet would be to contact the closest Air Base to find any information on it.

Have her try military.com and look up the discounts area. There are tons of great savings there.
