How To Find Discount Airfare For Tight Budget

Wolfgang Jaegel asked:

There is an unbound joy when you are able to purchase cheap airline tickets for your next journey. It is a great feeling realizing that you are able to save money and it is even real fun to brag about your abilities on achieving such a superb deal.

If you are willing to be an informed customer you can definitely find airfare deals which suits your travel plans. If you are alive to the options available before you and are ready to be flexible in your travel dates and times, then discovering cheap airfare will not be a major issue for you.

Attaining inexpensive tickets can lead to opportunities for you and your family to experience other parts of the world without reaching home and thinking like you immersed yourself into debt. Certainly, you can go through cheap vacations that are still enjoyable, thrilling and enterprising by spotting those airfare rates and discount hotel reservations and even car reservations if you are planning to go across the countryside.

Travel prices have become very high these days, so it is of prime importance to locate the cheapest airfares that are on offer because the travel expenditure covers a big part of the vacation budget in the case of most families around the world. By finding reduced airfare rates you can use the money saved for a special night on the town at your vacation destination or for other luxurious activities and shopping.

One of the most important things when you are looking for inexpensive tickets is your flexibility. A very tight schedule and inability to alter your travel date or time of departure can end up in you paying full price. However, if you can change your travel dates a bit you may find useful savings.

To see how your departure date can affect your chances of securing a cheap ticket just visit the website of your preferred airline. Enter the travels days you have in your mind in the fields that demand your departing and returning flights. Examine the various fares that are on display and do the process again by changing only your departure date.

Analyze how that influences the price, and then try with your return day. This will make you aware about how sometimes a small variation in the day of your flight can lead to a big difference in the cost of air fare for your trip.

Don’t forget to look out for how the time of day changes the ticket prices. Early morning flights and late night flights are sometimes the best bet for receiving the cheapest tickets. However, some people think that those flights are always the cheapest, but this will not be the scenario always. Actually it will cause great discomfort sometimes if you choose late night flights. Always compare the costs of all the flight schedules for the particular day you plan to fly.

Sometimes, you may assume that shifting the responsibility to a travel agent or a quick investigation of the big online travel sites is all that is required to achieve cheap airline tickets. However, the industry experts strongly believe that there is not any single source that is reliable enough to have all the current information for all the airfare deals available.

There is simply too much data that is constantly fluctuating. It is the responsibility of the consumers to take the initiative to explore large number of sites and review as many options as possible to discover the low airfares they were looking for.

Learn The Pros And Cons Of Cheap Consolidator Airfare Tickets

Friday, October 10th, 2008

Steven Liew asked:

Most smart air travellers know the one main single reason of buying cheap consolidator tickets over the regular published airfare tickets is huge savings of around 30%-50%.

Most of the time, you are almost likely to find that consolidator airfare tickets beat the regular airfares hands-down.

Of course, there are the rare exceptions when airlines do their own special promotions like a new route or do a marketing promotion for a certain event at a destination.

In these cases, airlines could easily price their airfares cheaper but you still have to book these cheap airfares direct with the airlines either online at their website or offline through their travel agents. In these rare cases, consolidator airfares are likely to be pricier but not much.

Still, pricing is not the only reason why you should buy consolidator airfares for your travel.

Here are at least four other reasons why you are apt to find consolidator airfare tickets useful:

1) Short notice or last-minute travel
Consolidator airfare tickets are almost invariably cheaper and you could get it at a short notice sometimes without breaking the roof for the regular published airfares.

Airlines that find they cannot unload unsold inventories closer to the departure date may opt to discount these airfare tickets heavily to consolidators who advertise them as their own cheap discounted last minute airfare deals.

To the airlines, it is better to fly full at cheaper airfares rather than fly half-empty at the full air ticket fares.

Further, by dealing with air travel consolidators, they don’t risk antagonising those passengers who may have paid full airfares earlier or in advance.

2) Round the world (RTW) multi-stop itinerary
If you plan to travel around the world, your best choice of finding the cheapest airfares for your trip is likely to be those specialist consolidators who are expert at arranging such multi-stop trip tickets.

If you do it yourself, you may find it bewildering to deal with so many permutations of different airlines, routes, flight schedule or airfare levels (though it is not impossible).

These round-the-world (RTW) consolidators could even string you a global trip if you plan to travel to faraway destinations like Australia, Southeast Asia or Eastern Europe and you will be surprised that you may only need to top up a little bit on these consolidator airfares to just one of the location for the price of all.

Most airlines don’t have routing all over the world and thus the RTW air travel consolidators not only are able to tailor make the flights to your schedule but at the same time, make it the cheapest schedule for you.

3) Exotic or long trip travels
If you plan to travel on a long holiday or to travel to off-beaten destinations like Peru or Bulgaria, air travel consolidators may have the edge up their sleeves to get you the best airfare ticket or schedule.

This is because such places or itineraries are likely to be serviced only by few experienced or regular travel agents.

4) Bulk airfare tickets purchase
If you are planning to purchase airfare tickets in large numbers, like for a group or organisation or even for your once-a-year family and relatives gathering, consolidators are likely to be your best bet to get the most airfare savings.

Airlines are not likely to give one-off discounts for such airfare ticket purchases by the normal travellers.

Still, despite all its advantages, one still need to bear in mind the shortfalls of buying and holding a consolidator airfare ticket. Here are four main things to watch out for:

1) More restrictions than regular airfares
Well, it is a trade-off if you want to get the large airfare savings of the consolidators. Consolidator airfares are almost always non-refundable and there could be restrictions like not being able to change seating, to get a free upgrade or change airlines.

Some consolidator tickets from certain airlines may not also entitle you to frequent flyer mileage so be sure to check this point as well before paying.

2) Lack of financial backing
A lot of air travel consolidators operate on thin margins and as such, some have gone bust in the past leaving their customers who bought their airfares in the lurch. Some of them also do not believe in customer service and you may find it hard to lodge any airfare complaints with them.

Still, these problems could be avoided by sticking to the larger and trustworthier air travel consolidators rather than aiming for the cheapest airfare consolidators.

In addition, look only for air travel consolidators that accept credit cards only as you are typically entitled to a refund from the card providers should the consolidator go bust or unwilling to honour its part of the air ticket bargain.

3) Choice of airlines or tickets
Note that you may not get your choice of airlines on consolidator tickets, which may aim for the airline that could offer the cheapest contract airfares to the consolidators.

This could be a problem for travellers who worry about security and customer service of different airline companies especially the foreign ones although note that consolidator airfares nowadays could be obtained on a lot of reasonably good quality foreign airlines.

At the end of the day, you just have to decide whether the issues are worth the consolidator airfare savings.

4) Access to air travel consolidators
Some of the best air travel consolidators may be based in their home countries and do not have a representative in your country.

While you can still pay and ask the consolidator to mail the airfare tickets to you, invariably these may provide timing and commitment risk.

Again, this could be mitigated by always sticking to the larger and longer established air travel consolidators in the market.

Ultimately, the advantageous of consolidator air tickets and their savings do overwhelm that of the drawbacks.

Again, to cut the risk, always stick to the larger-based air travel consolidators to buy your tickets from rather then finding the cheapest consolidator airfares among them all.

George Wood asked:

Planning to go to the worlds largest theme park for some entertainment? Well, why not also consider finding the best possible airfare to Las Vegas? It is not that difficult since Internet has made everything so easy and within reach of everybody. You will be able to see which airline would be the best for you, should you consider a direct flight or a multi-stop flight and should you buy a round trip ticket or one-way.

These and other decisions will become easy once you have enough information about the latest trends and habits of airlines that schedule flights to Las Vegas from different cities. Lets find out some more about it.

You can look for discount airfares for Las Vegas on the Internet. What you will find is a list of user-friendly websites with a search field to help you narrow down your search by entering the location from where you will be taking off and your departure date. They will then find the cheapest flight possible for you. You can also perform a search by airports. For example, if you are flying from London you will be given a list of popular London airports like Heathrow, and Gatwick etc.

Clicking on one of the airports will take you to a page where all flights are listed from that place to Las Vegas. You can also search for cheap flights for Christmas, New Year and Easter. Since these are peak holiday seasons many sites have special discount deals for these dates. You can even book way in advance, like four to six months before the flight to get cheaper airfare.

The deals and packages offered by these websites include not only the plane ticket, but also your hotel accommodation expenses and the activities you will be taking part in while you are in Las Vegas. You can select from a number of shows and events listed on these websites to see which package suits you the best. Also try to locate a cheap package that includes car rental facility as well. This way you wont have any difficulty in arriving to your destination anywhere in Las Vegas once you are there.

These packages are usually very cheap as compared to individual charges of all these activities. You will also be given an opportunity to select the kind of food you would want to have in Las Vegas. Planning a trip to Las Vegas is nearly as eventful as actually arriving there and being a part of all that.

You can save up to 75% on your overall expenses when you choose to buy one of these combo packages. PriceLine is a popular online consolidator website where you can go to search for a cheap flight to Las Vegas given your preferences. Expedia and Travelocity are equally popular for providing cheap airfare to travelers wishing to go to Las Vegas for a vacation.

Going to Las Vegas will be a lifetime experience for you and your family, so do not plan it haphazardly. Keep in mind all your needs and requirements and then choose a deal online that will not only provide you with all that you want, but will also save you a lot of money to spend on other activities.

Time And Searching Will Leave You With Cheap Airfare

George Wood asked:

This is an easy task for just about anyone, as long as you have a computer with Internet access. That is the perfect place to find cheap airfare. There are special sites like sidestep.com and mobissimo.com that allow you to search all the airline prices on the net.
The lowest prices will be shown first. Go ahead and pick a ticket or if you do not think the prices are good enough try other websites. There may be even better prices elsewhere.
This shows the power of the World Wide Web. Now, all the lowest prices are ready for you after a simple click. It will also give you plenty of insights. One common insight is that airline tickets usually cost less early in the morning when compared to flights later at night. Sometimes this is caused by a flight that is far from full so they decide to fill it up some more.
Some websites use a certain strategy of buying tickets at a wholesale price. This allows them to offer it at a lower cost. They also have to lower the cost or they will not be able to get rid of all the tickets that they bought. With these sites you may want to wait until the price drops on a particular ticket to a level that you are willing to pay.
There are a lot of travel websites that give you numerous options in their search engines. This allows you to find future flights with lower prices. Many of the sites will also give options that will notify you when certain tickets reach a certain price.
The Frequent flyer programs may be an good way to save money too, but redeeming your miles requires a little more diligence. Most airlines will set aside just a small percentage of their available seats to travelers redeeming miles, and they usually are available for reservation before the departure date. For these reason it is always advantageous to booking reward programs travel far in advance, and to be flexible as possible with your travel plans. Also, many airlines will charge more for telephone reservations at reward program travel, so it is always best to book these arrangement online if possible.
One more route to think about is purchasing your airfare, hotel, and car rental all in the same package. Many times this will reduce the cost to a lower price than if you buy each one individually. With a little effort and Searching, you truly can save a lot on your airfare by booking online. I hope that these airfare tips will assist you, and happy travelling!

sweetpea asked:

When is the best time to purchase international airline tickets online? I had heard that the best deals only appear about 2 months before departure date, as that is when airlines will try to get rid of their empty seats - has anyone heard this or am I all wrong. I’m getting concerned - we are planning a trip to France in June and right now, tickets are expensive - but I wonder if they will be cheaper in April.
