It was on Fox News yesterday morning. The magic hour is midnight. That’s when all the “released” reservations in the airline computers become available online and you can pick up the best fares and often get a seat on a flight that previously listed as “fully booked”

I do not know about time of day, but recently I booked a trip to Amsterdam. Normally I plan such trips months in advance thinking that I will get the best airfare this way. But this time I booked a trip 2 weeks in advance and got the best deal ever! I discussed it with my friends and pursued booking the same trip dates and month for November of 2007 and the price per ticket was $500 more (the other tickets were only $630) even though this is 8 months in advance. So I am leaning more and more towards last minute deals as the most effective way to purchase tickets on line.

try to find out what the average rate is for the route your searching. This way you know the value of what your are paying.
Second - try fare caster
notice the feature on farecast.com that lists the airlines offering guarantied airfare (gaf)? Be sure you read and understand the terms and conditions of the ticket. Then select the least expensive of the options with gaf so you are certain you are getting the very best deal.

Not true. Generally airfares are adjusted about 3 times a day as conditions change, but these changes are usually minor UNLESS there are promotions. Mostly the market drives the prices up and down. Kayak.com is one of the best comparison tools because it includes Orbitz fares as well as many others. Try to use a flexible “window” of time during which you can make the trip to get the best rates. Generally and ironically the fare from the actual Airline will be more than from consolidators like Cheaptickets, Orbitz, or others.

I know that the “Red-Eye” flights are dirt cheap. I’m not sure about what time of day you should book your flights online…

airline systems tend to update around midnight central time do not look for anything at this time as fares are being loaded and it takes awhile for all booking systems to be updated wait a couple of hours. and what ever you do do not call the tech support team for that site that you are having issues with because we are sleeping
